links are followed with an age rating and a breif description. The age
ratings are mostly my own personal judgement, and are there to guide and
warn viewers of all ages. Comics on the net tend to be far more mature
than Newspaper ones.
PG This was the first online comic I ever
read, and remains one of my favorites. The TV addicted Mayberry Melonpool
commands a crew of aliens, a dog, and a six foot hamster aborad their ship
the, Steel Duck. Steve Troop has a great understanding of light hearted
humor and an encyclopedia knowledge of Sci Fi. If you're a science fiction
fan, or just enjoy quirky characters, add Melonpool to your list.
PG Avalon reads and feels just like highschool
really was for most of us. Taking place in Canada(Which honestly isn't
THAT different from the US) Avalon centers on a transfer student named
Ceilidh (Pronounce it "Kay"-lee") and her trials with boys, school work,
and the kiss and tell world of Avalon Highschool. Once you've read the
archives, you'll swear the characters are people you know.
PG-13 A comic about a website design studio
may sound like a bore, but when the people who work there are haunted by
ghosts, abducted by aliens, and trying to sleep with their cute Boss...
well, I need not go further. Beautifully drawn and a hoot to read, too.
PG-13 COLLEGE ROOMIES FROM HELL! If the title
doesn't get you curious, the guy with the tentacle hand will. Starting
out as a typical wacky college guys deal with wacky college girls strip,
it developed into a blender stuffed with mutant powers, Where Coyotes,
unrequited love, and an absolute nut bar named Roger and his pet rock "Fluffy."
If the first year puts you to sleep, skip ahead and be pleasantly surprised.
PG-13 It's like the hallucination that follows
conquering Zelda 64 and reading all the Lord of The Rings novels in a single
night. These aren't your typical Elves and Sprites, and creator Carson
Fire will take you on a driven fantasy ride like no other. Jumps from being
highly tense to damn funny in a single panel. Baughb the Elf is a hero
out of time, having traveled the ages through portals called "fairy gates."
Having returned to his ancient elven land centuries too late, he must prepare
for the horrid future he has seen to come and the terrible past that is
his burden.
PG-13/R It's just wrong, which is why it's
so right. Krazy Larry is an escaped lunatic who strides through a life
filled with moocher friends, annoying consciences, and sex deprived cartoonists
by being just what he is: A complete maniac.
PG-13 Undoubtedly the truest manga online,
this comic is beautifully drawn and well written, almost perfect. Two Americans,
the sensible Piro and devil-may-care Largo, obsessed with Japanese culture
go to Tokyo thinking it the promised land. They end up losing all their
cash and are trapped in Japan with no money, friends, or *GASP* beer! Very
funny pokes at Otaku culture and Piro's inadaquecy with women, though non-anime
fans may not "get it." Possibly the most popular stand alone comic online(As
in self-hosted.).
PG False advertising, I say! The artists satire
on his own friends and life-style, Real Life is in my opinion the best
computer drawn comic. Dealing with artist and all his friends' obsession
with video games, fantasy, and Pepsi products, Real Life is just funny
stuff. You'll read for no particular reason yet feel in withdrawal when
you don't.
PG The ultimate gaming parodoy comic. Based
on just about every character in any RPG game, RPG World slams and tears
apart the gaming genre. Goofy characters and non-sensicle plots make up
this purposefully cliched strip. As a warning, people who haven't played
a lot of video games will have trouble understanding much of the humor.
PG-13 Honestly not as bad as it sounds, though
staunch Christians will likely be insulted, Sinfest features a wannabe
pimp, a wannabe slut, and their world of nonsensicle Dogma. The parodies
of the devil and Staunch Christians are a riot, and if you loosen up a
little it isn't at all insulting. (I am Christian myself, and find it fair
rip on what Christianity has become in the modern world.) Also features
dozens of televison and movie parodies, Ninja Theater is my favorite. The
only fall back is the creator acts a little full of himself, but that's
probably just an act.
PG/PG-13 Just nuts. Chris is an adult who
acts like a child, dressing in Super Hero Pj's. If not for his genius,
time traveling alien/robot/whatever friend Boardy, he'd be lost. Parodies
just about everything under the sun, Supersoity makes Simpsons look intellectual.
Some folks might find a bit too trite, but if all you want is a good laugh
Superosity is there with a humor that is all it's own, and sadly for me,
hard to describe. Must be seen for yourself.
PG A very unique furry comic, Unlike Minerva
focuses on Brisbane Adams, a hedgehog trying to makea living in a Vaudeville
theater. What's Vaudeville? Think those stage acts in the old, OLD Looney
Tunes and you've got the general idea. Brisbane tries to be a comedian
and fails pitifully, so he makes by in life by dealing with his sister's
oddball obsession with royalty and his own romantic short comings.
R/XXX JUST WRONG! And not so wrong that it's
right, completely wrong! Road Waffles is about a psycho girl who kidnaps
a cow boy dressing convenience store clerk and makes him take her cross
country. Filled with people getting point blank shot and a lot of topless
scenes, Road Waffles is as black as black humor gets.
PG-13 The best Sci Fi comic on the net, don't
argue with me. What started out as a college based comic named It's Roomies,
creator David Willis switched tracks and added aliens and a Goofy Ass secret
agent named Walkerton. Borrowing several characters from Roomies but placing
them in a completely different premise, It's Walky can go from potty humor,
to full blown action to angst ridden speaches and back again. Plots from
Roomies get resolved or intertwined with a story about a government organization
battling a completely insane alien menace. The true-to-life characters,
despite their oddities, are what really draw people and keep them there.
PG The life of Tiffany Tiger has never been
an easy one. Her father left her at an early age, she can't find the right
guy, and as hard she tries to break into modeling, well you get it. An
interesting cast of characters, most rivaling for the gorgeous Tiffany's
affections, some just plain her rival. It's a dog eat dog world out there
that leaves little left for the tiger.
SABRINA ONLINE PG-13 A cute skunk discovers
the internet, and it changes her life for better and worse. She's met the
perfect guy on IRC, but can never get his e-mail. She's gotten the perfect
job thanks to web design skills, but her bi-sexual boss just wants to get
in her pants[If she wore pants;)] And don't get started on "Bunny-Man."
Well drawn and funny, and one of the oldest strips on the net.
PG What's a Namir Deiter? Read and find out.
Snickers, Tipper, and Blue are three cat girls who hang out with their
rabbit friend Joyce, trying to make sense out of their jumbled lives. Plots
can range from both down to Earth tales you can relate to to zany situation
comedy. Has a refreshingly different art style to go along with a very
differnt sense of story telling.
